Moin und herzlich willkommen auf unserem Blog. Es ist vollbracht: Lange haben wir uns ein neues Design für unseren Blog gewünscht, jetzt begeistert uns unser digitales Tagebuch im neuen Outfit. Wir bloggen seit 15 Jahren, hatten aber weder die Lust noch das technische Know how, unseren Blog den aktuellen Gegebenheiten anzupassen. Jetzt haben wir uns einen Fachmann man geholt, der unser Werk bearbeitete und entschlackte. Ursprünglich hatten wir 1000 Beiträge, viele nicht mehr aktuell und die Optik war altmodisch. Dank der Gestaltungsschmiede in Dithmarschen sind wir auch blogmäßig im 21 Jahrhundert angekommen. Wie gefällt euch unsere Aufmachung?
Die Vorteile des Bloggens
Ursprünglich sind wir mit dem Bloggen angefangen, um unsere Ideen zu zeigen und mit Gleichgesinnten in Kontakt zu treten. Nach sehr vielen Blogjahren entdecken wir außerdem den Vorteil, dass wir unsere Ideen hier gesammelt haben. Es stimmt, ein Blog ist wie eine Art Tagebuch 😉 Beim Zusammenstellen der Fotos für diesen Artikel war ich erstaunt, dass wir so viele schöne Produkte in der Zwischenzeit hergestellt haben. Irgendwie kommt ein Stück nach dem Nächsten, jetzt nutzen wir die Zeit zu reflektieren.
Unsere Vorliebe für nachhaltige Holzprodukte
Ursprünglich begannen wir, alte Möbel neu zu gestalten. Da uns der Transport der Möbel mit der Zeit aber zu schwer und unhandlich wurde, entschlossen wir uns, nur noch kleine Produkte herzustellen. Und Regale sind sehr praktisch und werden immer gebraucht. Unser erstes Holzregal entstand aus Palettenholz, natürlich von einer Einwegpaletten. Denn wir wollen möglichst nachhaltig leben, eine Entscheidung, die wir vor langer Zeit getroffen haben. Da kannten wir den Begriff Nachhaltigkeit allerdings noch nicht. Ja, es hat sich doch glücklicherweise einiges in unserer Gesellschaft verändert.
Europaletten werden weiterhin gebraucht und wir wollen nur überflüssige Materialien weiter verwenden, daher benutzen wir Einwegpaletten. Die erste Palette bekamen wir geschenkt, da wir als Bastler und Handwerker in unserem Bekanntenkreis als dankbare Abnehmer von alten Materialien bekannt sind. Dazu kommt unsere Meerliebe. Lange Zeit wohnten wir in Ostseenähe, jetzt in Nordseenähe, obwohl wir auch zur Ostsee nur 80 km fahren. So groß ist Schleswig-Holstein nicht 🙂 Bei unseren zahlreichen Strandspaziergängen entdeckten wir immer wieder schöne Treibhölzer, die wir einsammelten und trockneten. Auch heute nehmen wir bei jedem Spaziergang am Meer unsere Rucksäcke mit, um schöne Stöcker und Bretter zu sammeln. Daneben sammeln wir inzwischen auch immer Müll, denn es stört uns, dass es immer schmutziger am Strand wird. Allerdings verspürten wir bis jetzt noch keine Lust, aus dem Müll etwas Sinnvolles zu produzieren. Glücklicherweise gibt es da seit einigen Jahren auch tolle Ideen. Es werden auch immer mehr Treibholzsammler, so dass wir die besten Funde im Herbst oder Winter nach einem Sturm machen. Irgendwie habe ich immer das Gefühl, dass die besten Holzstücke an dem Strandende liegen, dass am weitesten von unserem Auto entfernt ist 😉 Doch Manfred macht das Tragen der teilweise großen schweren Holzstücke nicht so viel aus. Da das Holz nass ist, wiegt es auch ein bisschen mehr. Obwohl wir schon so viele Jahre nach Meerholz suchen, freuen wir uns immer wieder wahnsinnig, wenn uns ein schönes Holzstück vor die Füße gespült wird. Es sind oft so wunderbare bizarre Formen, so eigenwillige Oberflächen, so tolle Farbnuancen, dass es immer wieder herausfordernd ist, nach passenden Verarbeitungsideen zu suchen. Wir lieben diese Hölzer mit ihrem speziellen Finish so sehr, dass es uns schwer fällt, sie stark zu bearbeiten. Mit jedem Schliff verändert sich die Oberfläche und vor allem die einzigartige Form, die das Meer geschaffen hat. Auch die Behandlung mit Wachsen und Ölen verändert die Optik und Haptik, so dass wir am liebsten authentisches Treibholz verwenden. Glücklicherweise entdeckten uns inzwischen viele Kund:innen, die diese Meerholzliebe mit uns teilen.
Wenn auch du Holz als optimales Material für Möbel liebst, kannst du vielleicht nachvollziehen, weshalb wir so Altholz begeistert sind. Hölzer können sehr alt werden, sie verlieren selten an Qualität. Und Produkte aus Holz sind wandelbar: ein Holzregal kann farbig angemalt oder auch geschliffen und geölt werden. Wenn das Regal irgendwann langweilig ist, kann man es verändern, Haken anbringen oder Beschläge verwenden…etc. Und Hölzer in der Wohnung sind gesund und sorgen für gutes Raumklima, es sei denn, es werden stark bearbeitete Hölzer verwendet. Wir lieben hochwertige umweltfreundliche Wachse und Öle, sie riechen oft sehr gut und wir wissen, dass keine chemischen Dämpfe entstehen können.
Ein nachhaltiger Lebensstil
Eigentlich können wir nicht erklären, weshalb wir seit vielen Jahren nachhaltig leben und sehr zufrieden sind. Hat es sich so ergeben? Verschwendung und Überfluss haben wir immer abgelehnt. Zu viel materieller Besitz führt bei uns eher zu Stress als zu guten Gefühlen. Wir mögen es, individuell zu leben: Keine Statussymbole, sondern Dinge, die zu uns passen, die unser Denken widerspiegeln. Möglicherweise liegt es an unserer Kreativität. Selbermachen ist befriedigender als Kaufen. Kennt ihr dieses tolle Gefühl, etwas mit den eigenen Händen selber gebaut zu haben? Noch besser ist es, wenn bereits das Material eine Geschichte erzählt: das Schubladenregal ist Teil des Schranks von Tante Frieda, das Treibholz haben wir in Dänemark am Strand gefunden, diese Regalträger lagen herum, als der Stall abgerissen wurde. Herrlich!
Auch wenn wir etwas kaufen, gern Dinge mit Geschichten. Vasen und Kerzenhalter aus dem Urlaub erinnern an schöne Zeiten. Unseren Johanneskrautbusch haben wir aus Frankreich mitgebracht etc. Wir freuen uns auch über Vintage-Artikel. Wenn andere Menschen aus der Familie Dinge nicht mehr gebrauchen, freuen wir uns, denn für uns sind sie neu. Und wenn uns etwas nicht gefällt, können wir es ändern, das fordert wieder unsere Kreativität. Für uns ist es die optimale Art zu leben.

Als Kreative sammelten wir schon immer Ideen. Gern gehen wir in Museen und Ausstellungen oder auf Kunsthandwerkermärkte. Wir haben einige Ordner mit aus Zeitschriften gerissenen Seiten mit tollen kreativen Vorschlägen. Glücklicherweise gibt es jetzt Pinterest, ein Paradies für Ideensuchende. Ein Hoch auf das Landleben
Seit 10 Jahren leben wir auf dem Land, so richtig dörflich. Und wir fühlen uns total wohl, es entspricht momentan genau unserem Lebensstil. Auf unserer gemeinsamen Reise haben Manfred und ich viel ausprobiert. Wir wohnten in Hamburg, Lauenburg, Frankfurt, Hanau und Kiel. Mal in der großen Stadt im Zentrum, mal am Stadtrand und haben es eigentlich immer genossen. Das Leben verändert sich und somit auch die Ansprüche an die Umgebung. Als junge Menschen war das Großstadtleben mit den vielen Möglichkeiten „after work“ etwas zu unternehmen super. Mit kleinen Kindern war es am Stadtrand super. Und jetzt passt wie gesagt das Landleben perfekt. Wir haben keine direkten Nachbarn und können rund um die Uhr Krach machen und bauen und basteln. Außerdem bietet unser Resthof viel Platz für viele Projekte. Und in der Coronazeit spüren wir die Vorteile, in den eigenen Garten gehen zu können und mal eben zum Meer zu fahren. Glücklicherweise gibt es inzwischen überall gutes Internet, so dass wir hier im Home office arbeiten können, schon vor Beginn der Pandemie. Ja, uns geht es gerade sehr gut.
Kreativität macht glücklich
Menschen, die wie wir kreativ sind, kennen es: Kreative müssen kreativ sein, sonst fehlt etwas. Es gibt immer ein paar Projekte, die darauf warten, verwirklicht zu werden. Dabei ist es egal, ob wir ein Bild malen oder ein schönes Foto machen wollen, es gibt immer viele Möglichkeiten und Einfälle. Es wird probiert und experimentiert, gelacht und geschimpft. Und am Ende ist irgendetwas entstanden. Dann ist die Welt in Ordnung 😉
Und wie geht es weiter?
